Recently, Wanzhi Steel completed an export order for a batch of tin-free steel plates to Lagos, Nigeria. Tin-free steel plates possess excellent substrate properties and outstanding coating adhesion, making them a common basic material in the construction industry. The cooperation process for this case is as follows.

Tin-free Steel Sheet Shipped to Nigeria

Shipments from Tianjin Port
The Nigerian client is a small-to-medium-sized steel structure manufacturing company in Lagos. They primarily undertake urban commercial complex construction projects. Their reason for seeking a supplier was the need for reliable strength and easy welding of steel plates for manufacturing secondary beams, support components, and platform panels, characteristics that tin free steel plates meet. The client initially contacted us through our website’s contact form, after which we provided them with standard technical specifications and detailed parameters. They reviewed our previous cases of exporting steel plates to West Africa and ultimately trusted us, choosing to cooperate with us.
Product: Hot-rolled tin-free steel sheet (flat plate)
Specifications: Thickness 1.2mm, Length 1000mm, Width 1000mm
Standard: Complies with ASTM A36
Quantity: One 20-foot container

Tin-free plate production line

steel sheet cutting
We first select high-quality slabs according to the customer’s required ASTM A36 standard, then precisely roll them to the target thickness at high temperature. After rolling, they are sent to a cooling bed for natural cooling. Then, they are precisely slit to the 1000mm width specified by the customer. Finally, a preliminary inspection is performed, and irregular ends are removed, cutting the slabs to 1000mm square plates.
Quality is a principle that Wanzhi Steel has always adhered to. Our independent quality control department conducts multiple inspections on this batch of goods, including but not limited to: thickness tolerance inspection, surface quality inspection to ensure there is no serious iron oxide scale indentation or scratches; and mechanical property testing to confirm that its yield strength and tensile strength fully comply with the ASTM A36 standard.

Refined Chrome-plated steel sheet
For long-distance sea freight, the export packaging agreed upon by the client and us was as follows: each stack of steel plates was bundled with steel straps, lined with moisture-proof paper inside, and wrapped with metal protective plates and reinforced wooden pallets on all four sides. Clear labels were affixed to the outside of the packaging for easy information verification.
This shipment departed from Tianjin Port and was transported directly to Lagos Port, Nigeria, via our reliable partner shipping company. We provided the client with complete customs clearance documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin, ensuring smooth customs clearance at the destination port.

Load into containers
It is a tin-free thin steel sheet developed to replace tinplate. It does not use tin as a protective layer, hence the name “tin-free steel.” Specifically, it is ordinary cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel coils/sheets without a metallic tin coating, also called chrome-plated steel. What does it use to replace tin? TFS is not completely uncoated; rather, it uses metallic chromium and chromium oxide to replace tin. A typical double-coating structure is: bottom layer: metallic chromium layer; top layer: hydrated chromium oxide layer. The coating is extremely thin.
